A Delta passenger with multiple sclerosis was tied to a wheelchair with a blanket for transport, family says

A Delta Air Lines passenger named Maria Saliagas was tied to a wheelchair with a blanket after a world flight earlier this month, her son told the Atlanta news outlet WSB-TV.

Saliagas was recognized with multiple sclerosis 5 years in the past however did not need to finish her yearly custom of touring to Europe with her husband, WSB-TV reported. She flew from Atlanta to Amsterdam on April 1.

She instructed the outlet that Delta often accommodated her by offering a wheelchair with further straps to maintain her upright. But her son, Nathan Saliagas, mentioned that Delta didn’t fulfill his request for such a wheelchair upon her arrival and that airline workers as a substitute tied her to a wheelchair with a blanket, inflicting her discomfort.

“They took a dirty blanket and tied her forcefully with it, and she has bruise marks on part of her arm because it was so tight, and she started crying,” he instructed WSB-TV.

The Saliagases instructed WSB-TV that Delta supplied them 20,000 SkyMiles after the incident however that they wished the airline to rethink the way it treats passengers with disabilities.

A Delta consultant instructed Business Insider that the airline had a completely different perspective on the incident.

“We are disappointed that our customers didn’t have a satisfying travel experience and will ensure that their return flight exceeds expectations,” the consultant mentioned. “While Delta always looks for ways to improve the overall customer experience, our findings do not align with details shared by the customer’s family.”

In a separate incident in March involving Delta, a passenger mentioned the airline’s customer-service representatives didn’t properly communicate with him after his canine was positioned on multiple incorrect flights.
