Here’s a have a look at how feminine artists are represented in a variety of upcoming Ottawa-area festivals. Except for Arboretum’s Bon-Fire, which has extra girls than males in the lineup, they’re nowhere close to parity.

Kemptville Live Music Festival, July 19-22, Kemptville

Main stage options 17 acts (amongst them, The Beach Boys, Loverboy and Trooper), with three feminine artists: Jann Arden, Dawn Tyler Watson, Emily Burgess. 18 per cent

Rebelfest, July 20-21, Lansdowne Park

11 all-male acts, together with Big Sugar and The Lazys, plus one band, The Damn Truth, that includes a feminine singer. Eight per cent

Calabogie Blues & Ribfest, Aug. 17-18, Calabogie

Of 13 acts, together with headliners Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials and Joe Louis Walker, two function girls: Angelina Hunter Trio and Crystal Shawanda. 15 per cent

Bon-Fire, Arboretum Festival, Aug. 17-19, Rideau Pines Farm, North Gower

22 acts in complete, together with headliners Wolf Parade and Jessy Lanza, with 16 that function girls. 73 per cent

Nostalgia Music Festival, Aug. 24-26, LeBreton Flats Park

19 cowl bands, with 4 that function or embrace feminine voices (Cher, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA) 21 per cent

CityFolk, Sept. 12-16, Lansdowne Park

Of 36 marquis acts highlighted on the pageant’s web site, six are girls, or anchored by girls. (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Ani DiFranco, Lindi Ortega, Whitney Rose, Janis Ian, Terra Lightfoot, Whitehorse) 17 per cent
