Hornets officially name James Borrego as coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Hornets have officially named James Borrego as head coach.

The 40-year-old Borrego joins the Hornets after 15 seasons as an NBA assistant coach, together with the final three with the San Antonio Spurs beneath Gregg Popovich.

The Hornets have set an introductory information convention for Friday.

Borrego gained some head teaching expertise when he served as the Orlando Magic’s interim head coach for the ultimate 30 video games of the 2014-15 season after Jacque Vaughn was dismissed.

Hornets basic supervisor Mitch Kupchak mentioned in a launch that Borrego ”is taken into account one of many NBA’s most well-regarded assistant coaches and it’s nice to have him as a part of our crew.”

Borrego mentioned he’s ”assured” within the teaching basis he has gained throughout stops at San Antonio, Orlando and New Orleans.”
