Rent, the beloved Broadway musical, is bound for the NAC this fall

Rent, the beloved, award-winning Broadway musical, will come to the National Arts Centre in late October.

The 20th anniversary touring manufacturing of the rock musical will play the NAC Oct. 22 to 27.

Loosely primarily based on the Puccini opera La Bohème, Jonathan Larson’s uplifting musical follows the lives of struggling younger artists in Lower Manhattan’s East Village, dwelling underneath the shadow of HIV and AIDS. Rent gained the 1996 Tony Award for finest musical in addition to the Pulitzer Prize for drama. The musical performed a 12-year run on Broadway in New York.
