ATLANTA — A lady with a number of sclerosis says Delta Air Lines staff tied her to a wheelchair with a blanket after they did not have a chair that would accommodate her incapacity when she arrived in Amsterdam just lately, and her son says a supervisor cursed at her as she wept. But the airline is providing a special account of what occurred.
Maria Saliagas tells WSB-TV that Delta often gives a wheelchair with straps as a result of she will be able to’t sit up on her personal. Nathan Saliagas tweeted April 2 that Delta’s actions left his mom bruised and crying.
He tweeted a photograph of his mom and tagged Delta and several other native journalists.
Delta spokesman Anthony Black says the corporate regrets “the perception our service has left on these customers.”
The firm provided the household 20,000 SkyMiles, however they are saying they need modifications in the incapacity coverage.
Nathan Saliagas says he is complained to federal transportation officers.
The airline issued an announcement to CBS News saying, “We are disappointed that our customers didn’t feel they had a well-cared-for travel experience and will ensure that their return flight exceeds expectations. While Delta always looks for ways to improve the overall customer experience, our findings do not align with details shared by the customer’s family.”
The provider says the contractor utilized by the airport in Amsterdam supplied a wheelchair in which Maria Saliagas was taken of the airplane. European Union legislation requires airways to make use of airport-contracted wheelchair distributors.
Once she was off the airplane, Delta says, Saliagas was provided different wheelchairs higher suited to use in the airport than the one in which she deplaned, and he or she picked one. But as soon as she was in it, she informed employees she felt she was slipping and “agreed to blankets being offered as a way to provide comfort and secure her to the wheelchair.”
Delta added that the blankets used have been taken from their sealed, unique plastic wrap. Nathan Saliagas had claimed Delta used soiled blankets.
