Zsa Zsa, an English bulldog, was named the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma, California, on Saturday, June 23.
The 9-year-old beat out 13 different canine to win the “honor” at the Sonoma-Marin Fair, snagging a $1,500 prize and a large trophy — and “delivering a shower of slobber as she claimed this year’s title,” in accordance with a press launch asserting her win.
Zsa Zsa’s rivals included a blind, hairless Chinese crested combine, a dreadlocked terrier, a Pekingese named Wild Thang and a previously obese pup with sagging pores and skin.
Rather than poke enjoyable at the canine, the competitors celebrates canines in all their styles and sizes, a lot of whom, like this 12 months’s winner, come from shelters or pet mills.
Named after the late Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, the canine spent 5 years in a pet mill in Missouri earlier than she was put up for public sale and acquired by a gaggle known as Underdog Rescue.

Zsa Zsa’s doting proprietor told The New York Times that it was the pooch’s character that scored her the trophy.
“She was eating part of a Slim Jim on the table and just sneezed all over them and was drooling on them,” she defined.
“We are so excited for this,” Brainard advised CNN of the new canine celebrity (she’s set to fly to NYC to look on the Today present). “She deserves this.”
