WEST SACRAMENTO – A Girl Scout troop introduced, the cash they raised promoting cookies, goes in the direction of honoring the reminiscence of two sisters from West Sacramento, whom police say had been murdered by their father in January. The cash is for one thing that, Sara and Sophia Rouin’s, fellow Girl Scouts know they might have beloved.
Still reeling from the lack of her daughters, Amy Hunter says that, “there’s good and bad days.” And that she “feels like their spirits are always with” her.
Sophia and Sara Rouin had been simply 12 and 9 years outdated once they had been killed.
A loss that has hit their Girl Scout troop – laborious.
“They always kept us on track. Wherever Sophia went Sara went and she kinda brought happiness everywhere she went,” mentioned Girl Scouts, Aisha Lemseffer and Mariam Syed.
“She was really kind, and she tried to make everyone happy. She just wanted to make the world a better place for every person,” Celine Puka expressed of Sara.
In the months spent grieving for their associates, the Girl Scout troop determined to take motion.
“We wanted to do something to remember them because they were such a big part of our lives,” mentioned Lemseffer and Syed.
Girl Scout troop chief, Erum Syed acknowledged, “one after another the ideas started flowing.”
The cash they raised promoting lady scout cookies would go towards constructing a playground on the Salam Islamic heart in Sacramento.
“We said this needs to be a big check ceremony. We knew we had to mark the occasion and we knew it should be done in a big way,” mentioned Erum Syed.
Saturday, they held the ceremony, presenting a test for $3600.
A proud and emotional second for the women and the group.
“The project of a playground is just something they were both so passionate about,” mentioned Hunter.
Hunter is moved by the gesture to construct one thing her daughters cared about.
“If they couldn’t be here to do it maybe their spirits just pushed everybody to keep working hard,” Hunter mentioned.
