Southwest Airlines CEO on shutdown: ‘It’s a crazy way to run our country’ | Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines introduced Thursday that the continued authorities shutdown has price the airline an estimated $10-$15 million in income, and CEO Gary Kelly is not mincing phrases when it comes to his emotions.

On CNBC Thursday morning, Kelly warned that the present shutdown might break the aviation system.

“In our business, at least, we deal with the government in a very intimate way… my hat is off to all the federal workers that are showing up. They are heroic. They shouldn’t have to put up with this,” Kelly stated.

“It’s a crazy way to run our country, absolutely absurd,” Kelly stated of the shutdown and its affect on aviation staff.
